After a brief interruption, the State Hermitage is preparing to continue restoration work on the Exchange building.
An announcement of a tender procedure to select a contractor to continue the work to restore the building and adapt it to modern-day usage was placed on the electronic trading platform Sberbank-AST on 11 June 2020.
The plan of work comprises restoration of the façades, renovation of the stylobate and the main body of the roof, and repair of the utility networks in the Exchange building.
Work carried out in the previous period included measures to reconstruct the foundations and reinforce the subsoil; restoration of the roofing system (with construction of a temporary roof); work on waterproofing the building and the northern part of the stylobate; some work on the façades on the south, east and north sides of the building; preparations for the installation of window frames made following the historical prototypes; cleaning and restoration of the granite steps on the west side and granite blocks around the perimeter of the building.
To complete the restoration in accordance with the plan, the new contractor will be expected to perform work in the amount of 280.5 million rouble that needs to be completed no later than the first quart6er of 2021.
