On 18 September 2019, the formal opening of the 26th RESTAURO-MUSEi Salon took place in the exhibition quarter of the Italian city of Ferrara in the presence of the Italian Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini.
The Restauro salon has international status and is devoted to the study, preservation and popularization of cultural heritage, to museum activities and organizations in the cultural sphere. Over the three days of this major cultural event, the State Hermitage presented an extensive programme. On its stand the museum held a scientific restoration seminar and offered a range of master classes.
On the first day of the salon, the master classes were devoted to a demonstration of the technique of making and restoring leaded stained glass (Yekaterina Dutova), methods of creating and restoring works of applied art in the Tiffany technique (Vadim Lebedev) and the technical and technological characteristics of painting on stained glass (Yelena Krylova).
In addition to this work a film about restoration work at the Hermitage was shown at the museum’s stand.
