On Monday 19 March 2018, the Consul’s Dictation took place in the General Staff building of the State Hermitage, ushering in International Francophonie Day in St Petersburg.
The joint project of the Institut Français in Russia and the diplomatic representations of countries belonging to the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie this year brought together the Consulates General of Belgium, Romania, France and Switzerland in St Petersburg and the Embassy of Canada in the Russian Federation.
Hugo de Chavagnac, the French Consul General in St Petersburg, dictated a passage from a novel by the contemporary Franco-Algerian writer Salim Bachi to the around 170 participants in the test who gathered in the Lecture Hall of the General Staff. The best works in various categories were awarded prizes from the Swiss and Belgian Consulates General, the Wallonie-Bruxelles International agency and the Institut Français.
