The State Hermitage helps celebrate International Women’s Day.
In the run-up to 8 March, the museum made a present to its visitors in the form of a unique opportunity to acquaint themselves with the costume collection in the Staraya Derevnya Restoration and Storage Centre. The exhibition comprises 40 new outfits, including a set of costumes made for Alexander Sokurov’s film Faust, works by the gifted Leningrad designer Konstantin Goncharov (1969–1998), costumes by leading designers of the Leningrad House of Clothing Design from the mid-1980s, art objects by the textile designer Yelena Tkachenko and the porcelain artist Tatyana Chapurgina, costumes by the St Petersburg stylists Tatyana Kotegova and Yanis Chamalidi.
The exhibition opened on 4 March 2016 and is included in the general tour route.
It is only possible to visit the Staraya Derevnya Restoration and Storage Centre on a guided tour booked in advance.
