This room is used to display 17th-century Italian art.
The Self-Portrait and Rest on the Flight into Egypt are works by the outstanding artist Annibale Carracci (1560–1609), who with his brother and his cousin founded the Academy in Bologna which laid the foundation for a whole tendency in painting in that period – Bolognese Academicism. The Madonna and Child with Saints is by Ludovico Carracci (1555–1619), the cousin of Annibale and Agostino. There are paintings here too by major representatives of Bolognese Academicism – Guido Reni (1575–1642), Domenichino (1581–1641) and Guercino (1591–1666).
