This hall contains Belgian, Dutch, German and Austrian paintings from the 19th-century, with a preponderance of narrative paintings by Belgian artists – Jean-Baptiste Madou (1796–1877), Theodore Geirnaert (1790–1859), Joseph Stevens (1816–1892), Alfred Stevens (1823–1906), Louis Gallait (1810–1887) and others.
The art of the Netherlands is represented by Herman ten Kate (1822–1891), Johannes Bosboom (1817–1891) and David Bles (1821–1899), Germany by Eduard von Grützner (1846–1925), Austria by Julius von Blaas (1845–1922).
